Gena and myself did some researching in Dekalb County, Al this past weekend. We saw some signs in DeSoto State Park area ...mainly a bowed tree.

Here is another view of the same bowed tree

The next place we checked was a small park that used to be open to the public all the time, but now is closed at 5 pm by the local law enforcement. At this location we found many pushed over trees. The trees varied in size from 6 inch stump to a 18 inch stump. There were many snapped off small diameter trees snapped off at 4 to 6 foot off the ground. These were not twisted ..just snapped.

There was a tree that was bowed over here too ... it was a small tree but right on the walking trail. Just before this bowed tree there had been a tree about 1 foot on the stump that had been pushed over and was blocking the trail. I moved the bowed tree to see if it was actually bowed or if it was just growing like that, about 30 seconds after I moved it slightly and started to take pictures of it something large was thrown out into the creek right across from me. I am only guessing here but it sounded like a rock or something very heavy to say the least.

Here is a picture of the creek that the large object was thrown into.

We decided get off the trail and explore the upper ridge area. Once we started up the ridge we heard a lone owl hoot as we climbed farther up the knocking started. The knocking frequency increased as we got closer to the top of the ridge. We also heard leaves crunching and limbs cracking to the right and left of us. All the noise stopped at the very moment we decided to head back down the slope to the walking trail. This all took place during the early afternoon hours of Nov. 2
*Edit*
Forgot to mention that we also discovered what appeared to be a hand print in the mud at the water's edge. The mark on the left side of the print is a hole that seems to go down into the mud 4 to 5 inches ...I think it may be where the thumb went into the mud.

Thanks straycat for posting the photos and sharing the info.
Looks like you may have found your own research area.

I believe you found yourselves a couple of research areas. And you attracted the attention of the "locals". The one at the little park where they don't want you there after dark sounds very interesting.

| This is a naturally formed hole in a bolder. We found it while looking around in DeSoto State Park. David and I thought it was a hoot. We sat one of David's size 12 shoes beside it. We hold no illusions that some prehistoric BF left his mark her thousands of years ago. Though I invite you all to draw what ever conclusions you want, it's your world too. lol Attachment: P1010033.jpg (Downloaded 102 times)

| Thanks shane. The first Bowed tree in DeSoto State Park may have been formed by the snow or ice weighing the tree down. We did think it was interesting that it was hooked under a small limb on the tree it was bowed down beside. We took some closer pics but they did not turn out as good as the one David posted. David and I enjoyed out trip.

| Good luck you two! Great pics and I love the one with the bowl in the rock. I found an interesting rock the other day, guess I'll get industrious and start posting my pics over here.
