I am sure just about everyone has been doing something outdoors when your flashlight failed you just when you needed it the most. Did you have a backup? If you were like me..you didn't. So..what do you do? Go to Walmart and get a new one?
If you do, will it be any better than the one you had?
Here are some websites with tons of the latest outdoor equipment.
The BIG name stores:
BassPro: http://www.basspro.com
Cabelas: http://www.cabelas.com
Others:
Campmor: http://www.campmor.com
Sierra Trading Post: http://www.sierratradingpost.com
I am going to add one more to the list.
Most don't think about this very much but if you live in the deep south you look for anything that will help keep you cool and dry on those hot humid days.
I have tried many brands and they just don't compare to these. Yes, they are a little expensive, but you get what you pay for. These are long lasting and field tested..LOL by me.
Wickers: http://www.wickers.com
If you check the Sierra Trading Post site from time to time you may find them on sale.
I always look first in the bargain sections. Campmor does run some good bargains at times.
If anyone knows of another website to add please do.

Sierra Trading Post is a good one.....I've bought some good stuff there and they have great prices. Another one of my favorites is the Sportsman's Guide:

I recieved the "cat eye's" yesterday and was mighty excited to go try them out. Unfortunately - I'm an idiot because I can't get them to turn on.
To retun them for one that works will take $10 and two weeks. I'm not very happy with them right now. I don't see why I have to pay the shipping charge a second time - when the one I payed for doesn't work, when I have to pay to ship it back to them. The combined shipping cost's will be more than I bought the silly thing for!
I should have known - I never have good luck buying stuff on the Net. Either it never works - or it breaks straight away. And it always cost's me more to send it back than it was worth.

LOL!
I have to ask..did you notice where it was made. Maybe someone needs to do a little quality control and product testing before they ship them out.
I am glad you got it working.
This is what happens when the companies take American jobs and send them to other countries. There is nothing we buy that can not be made right here. We might have to pay a little more for it but (bleep) if I am not getting tied of seeing a label on everything that says Made in SOME-PLACE-ELSE.

Here is a site that has bags of all types to carry your gear and protect it.
http://bagdepot.com/index.htm
Something else I found the other day. Sears has cell phone cases with a belt loop or you can use the clip. These have velcro fasteners and are made of heavy duty nylon material. They also work well with small 2 way radios/walkie talkies. I bought 4 of these.

| This is a little late , but the first time I read this thread. Mike, I'm so tired too---- of picking up an item that interests me and a closer inspection of the things reveals that the (bleep)ed thing was made in Korea, China, Bangladesh, Mexico or India. Isn't there anything made by our own people in the United States anymore? It is a crying shame that millions of jobs have been given away to the cheapest bidder overseas, when we have a trillion dollar deficit and inflation out the ying-yang and a recession that looks to me thats gonna eventually turn into a depression. Why have all the politicians and large companies sold us all down the river? About the only two things I can think of that are still made here are Harley-Davidson motorcycles and Henry Repeating Firearms. We all have got to get this point across to all our elected "Officials". That's my rant and rave for the day----I feel a little better now!-------TennesseeCherokee---------------

Well TNC
I think you hit it right on the money. I hope somebody wakes up before its too late. Its all about the money.
This free trade deal is just another way for the rich to exploit foreign workers and make more money.

Tennesseecherokee..I hate to be the one to tell you but when the North East Harley Davidson club motored into the assamble plant in Pa. We were shocked to see hundreds of wooden crates setting out front of the plant. Of course this was in about 1980. We let the top people know this was not something we liked seeing. By the time we left our tourinr the plant ,they were all removed. Now for a good place to order stuff http://www.cheaperthandirt.com is great bigfootracks
