I have "BIGFOOT..On the Track of the Sasquatch" by John Green.
It is an oldie..but a good one. Copyright 1973.
It has the Albert Ostman story in it and writings about the Patterson film and much more.
It can be found in paperback at a good price.
I thought about starting a collection .. but Tal has not written his yet so..it wouldn't be complete.

| Thanks Mike, also I looked at Mr Crabtree books the fellow from Fouke ARK. His look very interenting.also we got to try out our new listening device last night. you talk about a world of difference. We heard a low whislte and some grount noises.and something walking in the woods near our location after we called one time.I believe without the device we wont have heard this. The coyotes where very active last night my friends dauther was listening to them with the device she said she heard one yelp then start whining like it was in pain.then a loud growling after that. the coyotes didnt make any more sounds after that. I not saying that was bf related but could have been. PLOWBOY

Best times for listening?
What time were you out?
Seems like Tal said right at dark is a good time to be set-up and on some nights I think he might be right. I have notice while hunting during the years, that if the moon is getting close to full and it comes up early, but there is an hour or so of dark before it does..the game will move early. If the moon is already up at dark..forget it..not much movement then.
If the moon is not a problem, we have been out and not heard a thing until after 11:00pm. Best times seem to be 11:00pm till 3:00am. Seems thats when everything settles down. Traffic on the roads slow way down and some nights even stop in the areas we are, most everyone is in the bed and then the night life starts. If only folks would stay out there until that late, many would be surprised at what they would hear. I know its hard if you are working and the weekends are different. Only during the work days Mon. thru Fri. can you tell the difference at 11:00 PM.
These creatures can tell it and that is when they play.
What has everyone else found? I am interested to know.

| Mike the above happened about 9:30 pm. We noticed most of our activity is a little before dark to about 12 midnight. We heard knocking and growling one night about 1:30 am back around the fourth of July. Our best days are Sun-Thurs when there is less traffic on club, things like fourwheelers etc. We havent stayed all night yet, but are planning to when a little cool weather comes. We havent played the serria calls the last two times we have gone. We played owl hoots first time we didnt notice anything but we didnt have the listening device. The second time the note above.also we seem to notice a better response from a drum-bull then the serria call. Two weeks ago Sunday night we left some bait several bags of popcorn tied to string about seven feet off the ground. Checked several days later both bags were gone and strings were gone too. I Agree with MR TAL about the first few hours beening the most active and leaving bait everytime we go to call but I know weather, human activity and anything could change that after some time. I agree with you ,Mr Tal and TNWOODS about trying different things to see what the best response we will get from these creatures. I know it may be a long shot, but we hope to find a pattern with these creatures. Any serious researchers are welcome to come go with us anytime we will take any advice any one has to offer. plowboy

| Little note about this past Sunday night. We left a peanut butter sandwich in a pine tree about 6ft of the ground in a zip lock bag. We went this morning to check on it.We left it about 50 or 60 yards off a side road that isnt traveled much in summer in fact it seems no one had been in there all summer the grass beening about knee high and no tracks . When we got to tree we noticed the bag was laying on the ground and the sandwich gone . but the bag was not torn it was opened at the top were the zip seal is. we noticed were something walk to it and left in some direction going thru weeds and brush back toward a small branch area we followed it till it went into hardwoods lost thr trail there.we find no tracks that we could tell and no hair on bag or tree. but one thing I want to point out. this was in 6 year old pine plantation about hundred yards from the hardwood bottom were the branch is.I know alot of researchers say that they dont use that type of forset much preferring hardwoods but the first year to 7 years of pine plantation holds a lot of wildlife till the pines shade out the grass and weeds. oh yea not saying I m for pine plantation just saying wildlife trive in them for several years only making naturally a good place for bf to hunt game ,forage for plants and berries.this was interesting about the bag and it beening in a old cut over.

I recomment Dr. Meldrum's Book Sasquatch Legend Meets Science. Its almost clinical. But for me it has explained several issues I was wondering about.
That peanut butter sandwich thing is cool. Thanks for sharing.
What listening devices would you guys recommend for us couch squatters?

Do you want to just listen or listen and record? The main question is..how much you are willing to spend on this. I have 2 sets of Hunters Ears (Walker Quads) that work great..just for listening.
My dish mic can be used for recording and listening but is not very man portable, but..it could be made to be. It could be down-sized and use a spun aluminum dish to reduce the weight. You could buy the parts (just plug in the cables) and you are ready for less than anything you can get anywhere that works this good...in my opinion.
My recording dish:

| Mr old crow Mike is right about the hunter ears they are good. also fingerhut has a listening device with built in recorder for around a hundred dollars very good for about 300 yards. It is built like a pistol with dish receiver on end of it. Its very lite and not to big. plowboy

I have said that the one thing we have going for us in this research is these creatures curiosity of us. After reading other stories and reports I find this story very believable.
believable
Main Entry:be·liev·able Pronunciation: \-ˈlē-və-bəl\ Function:adjective Date:14th century : capable of being believed especially as within the range of known possibility or probability
It is what it is.
