Hello folks, I thought i would pay tribute to the many lives taken and changed for every. Tomorrow being the 7th anniversery of 9-11. I have had my life affected by this devistating event. I recall the morning it happend like it was yesterday, I was at an elderly cuoples house installing a furnace, and heard the mans wife say in utter fear "OMG" as she colapsed to the floor as we all stood there in silence as the horror unfolded. it was like the hand of god came down and just turned off the switch to life! traffic outside just stopped and people running to see their t.v.'s, As i watched the body's falling from the towers, i thought to myself "my kids, i need my kids!!" After learning the flight path of the airline that went down in PA. my heart just stopped the planes path took them right over the relatives house my kids where visiting at. I still think now if they had crashed the airline any sooner? my kids would not be here. Since then i have made it my goal to always remind them how much i love them and how proud of them i am. I ask that we all take time tomorrow morning to give prayers and thanks to the men/women that have sacrificed their lives after that day I call, "The Day America Stood Still"
Thanks for listening to my ranting.
Thanks, Shane

We must remain watchful and not forget.
Those that died and those that gave their lives trying to help and save others.

I remember vividly the day and hour when this happened. It seems like only yesterday. I try not to dwell on this because it really had such an effect on me that I cried for days. I know things like this happen and we all must come to grips with it, but we must all deal with things like this in our own ways.....cry, get angry, swear, throw things.
But in the end.......we will, NEVER FORGET THE PEOPLE WHOM WE LOST.
9/11 will live on in our hearts and in our minds

I am trying to word this is such a way as to not be political. I will say, as best as I can, and will not think little of Mike, if he has to cencor, or edit my remarks.
We ALL need to put aside our differences, and personal aspirations, and think first of the needs of our country. I know it will sound corny to some, but, in the words of Mr. Spock in the second "Star Treck" movie, "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few." I feel that as a country, we have lost that concept, and we are all poorer for it.

I was drivng to work in dallas.....on i635...laughing at something kidd kraddick was saying.....and the plane hit..which was weird..and he said how strange...and then 20 minutes later the other plane hit...that is when my stomach hit the floor. at that moment i felt sick. with my husband being in the military..that was the first thing that ran through my mind....i got off abrams road and skipped steps at a atime to get to my office. people were already out of it and some of the ladies crying...i walked to my office and picked up my phone.....kind of like going in a tunnel and it gets longer and longer. ron was out of town in wisconsin at a base. everything and everybody went on lockdown. i could not get a hold of him and was just utterly sick. i sat down scared to death and didnt know which way to turn. as the day wore on i tried to focus and called the base and cried and pleaded and even said i was freaking out and i had to talk to him...lol...nothing. my boss came in and said to get a hold of myself. i stood to go home and he said. no...all youll do is sit in front of the tv. then my sister calls.....her husband was missing.
He left utah and went to ny on a business trip. and she couldnt get a hold of him...his meeting was in a building three blocks from the towers!! it was at the end of the day that we both got in contact of our husbands. it took john three days to get home...my sisters husband.....by train and automobile. we treid to laugh and say it was like that movie. john was there working for footlocker and they heard the buildings move and something blow up. they ran down the street and realized what happened and he said the stores down the road there were giving out free food and water and he was sitting there eating with some colleagues....and then all of a sudden some people came running down the road and the cops were screaming "move..... move".....and he said he got up and took off running....and that was when he heard the towers fall and he turned around and the smoke and silt that came rolling fell on him..he actually had breathing problmes for awhile after that.
i still remember being at an outing.....that was the first time i met bear, sandra, kelly and a lot of other people......lol.....and the last day we were there we attacked afghanistan....and i remember bear telling me>..."we've attacked afghanistan".......I felt sick...and everything from that moment on was different......since that moment until recently last year i feel like i have been holding my breath with this dam iraq war.......i know im supposed to be supportive.....but we were lucky,.....three times he was told he was going to iraq and missed the boat every single time.....our country is not out of danger yet and i am not the same person either. people are so sick of hearing about the war that when you hear.,...'a dead soldier".....people don't flinch anymore.......i have to admit i am sometimes tired of hearing about it too........
but here i am safe and sound living where we want to live.....but it comes with a high price..........freedom is never free....i would not have gone through that whole six years of life ever again.....living life on the edge........wondering what if".....i become a widow......then what........but its alright.......

MIke,
Just like the famous saying that is usually uttered when speaking about soldiers, the same can be said about all of the first responders/emergency teams who rushed to the WTC that terrible day. On 9/11/01 "all gave some.....but some gave all"!!!
"Those who forget history are doomed to repeat it"
WE WILL NEVER FORGET

There are days when I look around and think that people have forgoten the sacrifices that the men and women who choose to protect this country have made. Then when you look into the eyes of our children and what they have been able to accomplish because of the freedom that we have here in the US. It makes you want to thank God every day for the blessings that he has given us. May the ones that have lost their lives protecting our freedom rest in peace and we will continue to pray for the men and women and their families that are still fighting for our freedom. You need to let everyone in your family know how much you love them because we are never promised tommorrow and tommorrow may be to late. I had to learn that the hard way.

This entire thread is the best example I could possibly imagine for why I enjoy this site like I do. People can get on here and talk, and receive civil replies(THANK YOU, MIKE). There is a kinship here that is very rarely felt elsewhere. Even though I have not met any of you face to face, and have only had the chance to speak to one on the telephone, I feel I know each and every one of you.
God Bless You All, and GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!

I had to add to this I hope you don't mind even though it's kinda late after Sept. 11th. First off lemme say that I am a veteran and was at the time a volunteer firefighter back home near Pittsburgh,(have moved in last three years). That day will never leave my mind. All I can say is that I didn't know how the younger generation at the time would respond,if they understood or even had any Patriotism...well they answered that quite quickly. I am so proud of our troops now and when I look at my grandchildren playing and not having a care in the world I know it's because God has blessed us w/ young Men and Women that serve our country so well.Mike, thank you also for your service and to all veterans and those who serve..this ol' submariner salutes you all.I feel not proud to be American but blessed to be one. but I am sure Proud of our troops.
God Bless,
frog
