Maybe Shane can answer this question, but do you believe this creature is identical to the creature running around in the woods in Wisconsin? It sounds very similar. I do have more questions about this creature. It seems that it is selecting those it attacks. In one story it attacked a whole family, but in another story it was run off by the aunt blowing her car horn. I'm sure there could be several reasons for these events, just as there are several reasons why we have animal attacks on families and then other attacks that are easily avoided. Reasons, like drought and starvation. Having said that, the creature also chose to allow persons doing head stone rubbings to leave with little more than a good fright. Do you know if it is the general belief that there is a number of these creatures in the area, or if it is thought that there is only one or two?

Also, thanks for the goose bumps Shasta. I recounted a story of my missed sighting and wrote that my brother, who had witnessed the creature behind me, had thought it appeared to be a werewolf.

Thanks systemgoddess.  I had seen that site some time ago, but had forgotten about it.  That is one of the best photos out there.

Hi everyone. As producer/director of Hunt the Dogman I have to qualify the film with a few things I uncovered since the remastering of earlier this year. First, although the Beast of LBL is a very scary tale, there has never been so much as a shred of evidence to support it. I did some very intense research and records searching through Kentucky databases looking for any reports that could support the tale and found none. So, please accept that this could be urban legend.

Also, the Between the Rivers people contacted me and we have agreed to do the documentary on the flooding of the area, beginning in the 1930s. We met last month in Eddyville, Kentucky and I will return to begin shooting in about 2 weeks. During that meeting I approched the members to see if anyone could clarify the mystery of the so called bunkers at the alleged site of the LBL murders. One of the member's family had lived in the area for generations. He had grown up within walking distance of the site near the Mt. Pleasant Cemetary. When asked about the bunkers he immediately said, "cisterns". Apparently the residents of the area were not served by a water tower or any other public system, so they collected and stored their water in cisterns. These were built into the foundations of their homes, as I found when I visited the site. Some were, as he described, built into the front steps of the foundations. Also, the various configurations we found were added by the residents. Some even used the cisterns for dry storage or spare rooms and stored their watr in other fashions. Everything he described was evident in the bunkers we saw. So, based upon that, I can say confidently that these were, in fact, cisterns.

There was evidence that the road had been altered. Several of the cisterns were exposed and damaged by the reconfiguration. I believe that the fact the road was gated against vehicular traffic was an attempt to keep vehicles from falling into cisterns and septic tanks left over from the residences there.

But, there is another twist to this. I may have access to alleged government documents (I emphasize the words "alleged" and "may") that assigned certain individuals the task of hunting down and eliminating the Beast(s) of LBL. So, we'll have to wait and see about that.

Thaks,

Personally, I would love to hear about any of the "alleged" government documents that you "may" "alledgedly" be able to get your hands on.

It's stands to reason that a lot of information could be buried, whether an actual police report was filed or not, but if our government is actively persuing something then  they obviously think it exists.

Oh, and to my friend Shasta.  You, and the others who go to this area with you, are either very brave, or very crazy. LOL    Either way, much respect and safe wishes go to you guys.

Mike,

So far I haven't seen them. There is going to have to be some trust gained before I do...if they are accessible anymore. They were mentioned to me by someone I trust completely. He and I will be getting together in the next couple of weeks and I'll ask about them again.

I have been down this road before with other people...promised things that were never delivered. I am hoping for a different outcome this time.

Remember the alleged documents from President Bush’s National Guard service? They were authenticated by a team at CBS News, including Dan Rather, who took them to the air. When I saw an example of them the first thing I noticed is that they apparently had been written on a word processor, not a typewriter, due to the "th" being undersized in the dates given. Even the people who forged them were idiots and obviously young enough not to even have considered what real typewriter fonts looked like. But, the team at CBS was dumber yet.

So, if I am allowed to view these and possibly use them in a film, I will make sure of two things: first, it will look like a typewriter or teletype font, and second, I will use a heavy  disclaimer.

I feel that I might have been fooled by the Beast of the LBL story. Fool me once, shame on them. Fool me twice...you know the rest.

In an addendum to the above post, let me clarify that the person that mentioned these to me in no way promised anything to me. My reference to broken promises was in relation to other "groups" that promised full cooperation, documentation and assistance and delivered squat. Unfortunately, that seems to be the rule in this field, rather than the exception. :(

John,

We look forward to receiving any new evidence you uncover.  Please keep us posted.
