Ok folks, here is another pic to test your observation skills, and this is actually a very important one as we enter the time of year when the leaves are falling!   Find the copperhead in this pic.  It was taken with a cell phone camera, so the resolution isn't all that great, but it is still quite visible.

That is the reason I don't like walking around in the woods during the warmer months. Way to hard for me to look around and watch where I am putting my feet at the same time.

I like a little cool weather and a frost or two before I start getting out into the thick woods.

Shasta - if you hadn't pointed out where it was, I never would have found it!  Scary thought.....

I have gotten to where I do that trick somebody said. to let your eyes blur a little bit to see what's out of place. That's how I found him, lol

For those that can't see it, here's some help.  That snake is about three feet long and almost as thick as my wrist, which is pretty good sized for a copperhead.

Catamount, that's a pretty big copperhead.  What i don't like about them is that they blend in with the leaves so well in the fall, and seem to have a worse disposition that rattlers.   Have had copperheads come after me for no apparent reason.  Kinda scary when all you see is leaves moving toward you.

That's odd. I've found the copperheads I've encountered in the woods to have a milder disposition than rattlers. I've seen my friends step right over them many times without getting bitten (they didn't know they were there, and I didn't see them until my friends were right over them...not a good moment to yell, "Snake!"). I was climbing a bluff once and almost put my hand down on a coiled copperhead. I didn't couldn't see him until I was right up over the edge of the ledge he was on, and I stopped my hand not four inches from the top of his head! I still can't believe he didn't bite me, but he just sat there looking at my hand frozen in space and slithering his tongue in and out. I got tricked by a huge rattlesnake once, too. Put my foot down right down next to his head, he rattled, and I think I cleared a good 5 foot backwards in one jump! Then I just stood there staring at my footprint next to his head in disbelief! Lol!

lol. reminds me of the time my sister and bro were walking through a gully. My brother takes off running and my sister does a what the heck moment. He gets to the top of the hill and yells "There's a snake right there!" Sure enough, she stepped right over it, and then proceeded to chase my brother down and beat the crap outta him. lol, good times.

Lorraine, same thing happened to a friend of mine.  We were climbing down a bluff near a waterfall, and he put his hand almost over a coiled  copperhead.  I think only reason it didn't bite him is it was kinda cold.  Never found rattlers to be mean unless you mess with 'em.

Well I would have been snakebit! I'm another one who waits till it's cold before I will go out in the woods.
