Well folks no BF sightings, one wood knock and no vocals but have tree bends and breaks. I've decided to narrow my srearch cause i've been covering two different mnt. ranges. its good to know how to get to these places but as far a reserching it's like looking for a needle in a haystack. but I must say what I did gather was beyond the research aspect. I've gone through a tank & 1/2 of gas in three days just on runnin ridge lines & dark hallows and I loved just that...being in these secluded places..in the woods....some of the sights I seen just today could be put on any postcard for anyone who loves nature. When I see this I feel God Himself is telling me "this was no mistsake...I created this".
I did see some spots that have all the right fixin's to be a good spot to start. I know i'm still chewin on the fat here while most of you are on the meat ..but I'm tryin, and appreciate all your help so far. In the end..whethere I see the booger or not..I still win , enjoying all this that God created.

Hi Froggy , All I can say is , pick one area and start researchin !!!!
Keep close attention to your inner voice and that should help with your choice too .

It does seem like a needle in the haystack at first. That was the way I felt living in the middle of three national forests, thousands of acres of woodland. Where do you begin?
Dixie told me many years ago about topographical maps. Terra server is a good place to find maps of your area and with a little practice, a printer and some ink, you can print out your own maps. I split the area around me in quadrants at least 20 miles apart. Then in each quadrant, I located water sources, very important. I also looked for adequate cover and areas of little or no population. I also found it important to find roads near these locations that were accessible and not on private land or near any houses. Bridges are great because the sound can really travel.
In each quadrant, I would find 5 to 6 different locations at least five miles apart. In a single night, I would try to visit at least 3 to 4 of these locations depending on the activity. If I don't get activity within an hour, I move to the next. I would also stay near my car setting up my equipment on or in the vehicle in case I did have to abandon the area quickly. Parking your car where you can leave without turning around is another trade secret that we all practice. Some folks like venturing into the woods at night and sometimes do have success but I find that staying put often keeps from pushing them back into the woods. You can learn a lot by letting them come to you. You can learn different behaviors, sounds and a variety of odors.
This works for a few months but after awhile they know you and usually only one shows up to keep an eye on you and there is little or none activity. That is why it is important to have different quadrants as not to wear out your welcome or lend to boredom on both your parts. Some areas are always hot. A trip to google earth will probably show you why. Good luck froggy!

I believe you can "burn out" an area of research. They know its you when you drive into the place. Just like a dog knows the sound of your car or truck when you drive up at home.
You will not continue to stir up their interest after a few nights visit. You have to find new areas to visit so that you can spread out your return visits to the same area.
You may think that you have found them..you know they are there but seems they will get to the point of not reply-ing to anything you do..because they know its you messing with them ..again.
Just my thoughts on this. If anyone has anything to input on this..please do.

In the my sites the only thing that makes them not respond back is who I might have with me . I dont think they ever get bored with me due to the fact that I am a blonde and I tend to do some really dumb things lol .

Hang in there froggyvet. I will be right there with you sometime in January when my sister and I go check out a location where she has heard screams. I don't know if we will go back in those woods at night but we will at least check the area out for any visuals.
