Recent banning of former member shows the forum zero tolerance to those that like to prank or joke in the chatroom.
Some ask why I was so harsh and so fast to act in the way I did.
Some might remember my recent posting about things that happen in the background that most members never see..because we take care of it and delete the posts and most never see the mess on the forum.
The same goes for the chatroom. There have been several chatroom users that have been banned from using the chatroom. But, it does not stop there. The IP address of that banned user is also banned from the web server. That means ..that person, using that IP address can not see anything on http://www.alabamabigfoot.com. This includes the website, the forums and the chatbox.
Why I am so fast to act: In the past, users from other groups, have came here trying to cause problems with the members and cause disruption of the forums. It was a constant problem and it still is.
At the first sign of this I will put a ban on the person as fast as I can.
Some say it is too harsh..a short ban would be better. All a short ban would do is cause me more work. Most of the time if you ban a person all they are going to do when they are able to log back on..is talk about you (me) and how I should not have banned them and say something smart and I have to ban them again.
If you made a mistake in the chatroom..like one person did and apologized for it..no problem. I will lift the ban and you can rejoin the forum.
SANTA was banned and SANTA knew I was doing it as we talked in the chatroom and never said anything about who they really were. SANTA also could have emailed me and told me it was a joke, but SANTA has not.
Even if SANTA did..now would be too late. The damage has been done. Any crediability SANTA had, has been compromised.
Sorry this happened, but like I stated: I have zero tolerance of those that like to joke around and cause problems. I don't have time to waste on those that like to waste my time.

Thanks Mike, as this issue just protects the members of the forum, proving to them, that this is a safe haven for posting. Anybody that accidentally gets caught by this method, all it takes is a simple email to Watch1 (Mike) explaining their actions which will never be made public. Mistakes do happen and this could be readily taken care of privately without any fanfare.
I hate that "Santa" was banned, especially after "Santa's" real identity was revealed, and they could have cleared all this up with a simple email, but they choose to have their postings deleted and to go along their way. I respect that if this was what they wanted and nothing more will be said about it. I wish them the best of success in their future endeavors.
Most do not realize that we have a number of people on this forum who are targets, for whatever ignorant reasons and personal agenda's, and we would like to think that this is a secure forum, but it cannot be this way using the method we use for registering members. I may be wrong, but I think this is one of the few remaining forums that do not require members to post their private information before being allowed to post here. We would like this to remain this way as we understand that there are some very reluctant people who are out there reading all the BF forums and they have their own personal reasons for not wanting to register their home addresses and phone numbers. If a person thinks about it, this is a way for certain groups to obtain information to private BF related research sites if, for whatever reason, that person decides to leave that group. I've seen where, after the fact, certain groups have posted this type of private information in retaliation toward certain people, even to the extent of posting goggle maps with these private locations posted for all to see. This is very underhanded and cowardly, but we all know, "They are not capable of doing things like that," Yeah, right. This is why Mike has to be so "quick" to "pull the trigger," but misunderstandings can be taken care of with a simple email, as that can and will happen.
Thanks Mike, for protecting the integrity of your membership, even if it seems to some, to be extreme. I would rather a honest mistake be made then allowing intentional disruptions to occur.

I just wanted to say..... BRAVO! I accept and respect, this rule.
It makes for a much nicer environment in which to share with each other.

| Being one of the dipsticks banned on here for goofing off, I can vouch for what a well run and awesome forum this is. Mike, I appreciate how you and Bear both look out for us in the chatroom. This is the only chatroom I have ever participated in and I have learned tons of things not just relating to Reclusive Forest Primates, but about there still being quality men and women of character who are like minded and a lot of fun to visit with. I appreciate all you do and I am thankful you are quick to pull the tigger on troublemakers, it keeps this forum open for those of us who want to learn and who enjoy one another's company in a setting you make safe and comfortable for us! Thanks again and keep on keepin' on....

Mike, thanks for doing all you do to keep this site clean. Alot of people think we are wacko enough without the help of hoaxes, pranks, and liars.

I myself love chatting to the people here. its my way of getting to know everyone. I do my "class clown" thing there as I do anywhere. At work im known to be this way, it helps make the shift go by,but these ppl also know I take my work serious and I care very much that I do the job right.I take that same approach here. We must understand that some of the PPL on this forum spend a VERY large amount of thier time researching these creatures as I also am glad to say that my enjoying the woods,fishing or just walking around has turned into activly researching this creature. Levity has its place and can help make the chatting experience that much more enjoyable,but we must know our limmits, there have been times I bit my tounge ...well fingers because I thought first (thankfuly) "if I say this would they take it the wrong way" . The ppl who are here including myself believe these are flesh and blood creatures. but if a guest comes in saying they seen a booger and janis joplin holding hands getting off a UFO flight from the planet Zarton I will not ridicule them. I would probobly let shut up & let them speak thier piece. as for the haoxes..it is unfortunate and I think the ppl who do it need to come wash my truck for me to give them sumthing to do that is constructive.
