I wanted to share this with everyone. This is a sound file I made on my computer from scratch, using different audio production techniques. It was used for an internet radio show promo. What I was attempting to do was recreate, as closely as I could, a type of vocalization I have heard a couple times while out in the field. It was done by memory, and while not dead on, it is very close. I've received quite a bit of positive feedback from other researchers, who say this sound file is closer to what they've heard than anything else.
I would also like to make something clear. This sound file was entirely created by myself. It is not to be presented as an authentic recording of any type. It also goes to show you that with the right knowledge and equipment, it's not all that difficult to hoax evidence, especially when it comes to audio. In the radio promo I did, this file was mixed in with other computer files of various sounds. I layered several dog barking files, crickets, owls, and even set them up where it seemed as though they reacted to the Bigfoot scream. It was intended for entertainment and educational purposes only. If you know of anyone passing this file off as the "real thing" please let me know.
I'm currently working on a project of digitally producing a library of vocalizations for researchers to try in the field, including this particular file. Enjoy.

| I forgot to say that you did a awesome job on creating the sound. I just hope I never hear anything like that up close. Has anyone told you that it sounded like something they have heard?

Yeah, that's obviously the original file isolated. Throw some effects on it and set it in a background of other noises, and it sounds like a distant scream/wail.
I had responses from about 7 or 8 different people when it was first released, all telling me it came closer to what they had heard than any of the previous recordings on the internet. There were even some threads of discussion about it over on some other message forums. Amazing how things can spread in this community.

very good work.....
I would say some kind of higher pitch though
I heard a scream one time that was exactly like tornado siren in south.....scared the crap out of me, and now, living up here in north, the FIRE sirens are same exact sound. When I first moved up here, I jumped out of bed scared my wife to death, and I asked what the (bleep) was that? She looked at me like I was an idiot when she said was fire siren...

Yeah Scott, I know what you mean. Those siren calls are kinda creepy if you ask me. Almost like hearing a wolf howl in a sense. You mentioned the comparison of tornado sirens and fire sirens. I wonder if Bigfoot make those type calls in areas that have neither of those, or any other kind of siren that sounds similar. What I'm getting at is it some type of call they have developed through mimicry, or is a natural call of theirs that just happens to sound like some of our own sirens.

Great Job Matt. The sound kind of has that T-Rex / King Kong tone to it in the beginning. I have been on the recieving end of that vocal and (bleep) if it isn't the most bone rattling scarey sound to hear. We got stormtrooped out of the area the night we heard the roar. Needless to say we were already on our way, but it wanted to make sure we were headed in the right direction.
Great job!

That is a really creepy sound, and it is difficult for me having never heard sounds like this in the outdoors to imagine something wailing like that for real. I am curious to see what results it brings in the field.
On another thought, I was also wondering, in the post about BF and Trains, the discussion about the Sas hearing, or feeling infrasonic sounds, have you thought about adding, and are you capable of adding frequencies below 20k to the digital repoduction? I thought about it a little since our discussion on the other post, and if the 2ok freq. and down were isolated, and played through a set of subs (filtered), and the rest played regularly, would/could this imitate the vibrations/sounds created by the train that makes the Sas wail? I know it would be a little difficult isolating the exact haromic that the train is making that creates the response, but a spectracope shot of a train should create a nice visual, possibly creating a good starting point. I don't know if any of this is feasable, or practical for blasting, but I am most curious about the prospect...
