Ok Folks, here is some clarification on some of the previous posts concerning rules and activities of this upcoming outing. Some folks have gotten their feathers ruffled because this was not spelled out clearly, and we apologize.
NOBODY will be left in camp to tend the fire, unless they choose to do that of their own free will. EVERYBODY will be included in groups that will go to different points in the research area to listen and watch for BF activity. EVERYBODY will have the opportunity to learn and participate.
There are only two parts of this outing in which participation will be limited IN ANY WAY:
1) The boats that will be used on Friday and Saturday night will be small and hopefully quiet. There will only be a few of them, therefore, the number of passengers they can carry is limited. The boat passenger limitation is necessary because of limited space in the boats AND because of state and federally mandated safety requirements. There will not be enough boats there to safely haul all of us. And you do not want to be out on unfamiliar waters, in the pitch dark, in an overloaded or unsafe boat. BUT, there will still be PLENTY of great opportunities for those of us that will be on land.
2) We request that calling and/or playing of any recordings of calls be approved by your group leader before you do it. Calling too often, or using the wrong type of call for the situation is a common mistake and usually results in the BF not responding or leaving the area. We want to maximize our chances for success, therefore, we need to limit the amount of calling.
Also, what you do in your tent with your wife, husband, girlfriend, boyfriend, or significant other is your own business and we don't care as long as you keep it quiet and we don't have to listen to it. But we don't want this outing used as a "low-rent rendezvous" (if you remember the old song about that) or any other type of opportunity to skip out and cheat on your mate. We dang sure ain't prudes, but that can put us in an embarrassing position when we know about it.
If you have any questions about any of this or any previous posts, PM me.
Thanks,
Catamount, aka Coonbo

Good points Coonbo,
Each team will consist of a leader who is experienced at making the appropriate calls, and someone who is familiar with the local area. The rest of each team will include several others who posses good quality audio recording gear and or video/night vision gear, and people who have don't have any equipment of experience. Our intent is to put together several small teams that together can form a complete team, comprised of experience, audio gear and novice members. The small teams are critical, as a large group of people will not bring the results that we are hoping to achieve. It is our hopes that ALL of the teams will be able to learn from the more experienced folks and that ALL teams will be able to experience something.
I am bringing a larger boat, that can comfortably carry 4-5 people and my equipment. I am also bringing a canoe, paddles and life vests for others to use.
The main goal of this and other outings in the future would be to produce results first, and secondary, to for everyone to be able to meet the others from this forum.
Seriously folks, this outing will have so many experienced researchers it will be like a who's who of research. This is all about building a great research team to support this website, and produce good results to be posted here. While we all hope that we will be able to record some great audio or video, sometimes things don't always work out that way. However we believe in stacking the deck in our favor. The location is in an area that has produced some very interesting encounters in the past, and it is not "over fished" , so to speak. There has not been any researchers working this area at anytime in the recent past. There will be amongsts the group some of the best callers, trackers, and some of the very best researchers. There will also be numerous people in the group that have exceptional recording gear. So all put all that together, in one great location, we have the opportunity to produce some great results.
If you look at this outing as a baseball team, each team will need a pitcher, catcher, 1st baseman, 2nd baseman, 3rd baseman, and several outfielders. Everyone can't be the pitcher. But like any good team the outfielders are just as important. There will be a important place for everyone on these teams. Hopefully we will all win in this game by getting to experience something
Pat

Well as far as me and mine go,however bear see's fit to do things is great with us!!! I have never met DB ,but I trust his judgement and the way he feels things should be done. To me he is trying to do things both safely and productive. For those who can't abide by his rules, well I hate it for them cause I think they are missing a great chance to hear, see and smell a bigfoot upclose. But that is just the way I see thing's. Hey Bear......I did some checking and flying from Spokane to memphis is way too much....600.00. But, if I drove to Missoula which is three hours away from me and took a flight out of their airport and flew to memphis it is half that price which I might be able to swing. Now I know your tired from reading the posts and I aint kidding and would not be upset if you just had to cut me off because its too much.
I would need to look into this...I am also going to see if my sister has air miles I could have...their rich and always have stuff like that.....anyway...if its doable I would like to see if I could do it, but if you are just too busy then i understand and wont plan on it.....because you said sept 1 was the cut off date..and i understand....i just thought of this today....to check flying from missoula and see if my sister has air miles....
again i wont be upset cause its just too much...i mean i know its me the bmw....but hey.....lol.....i sure would love to see your happy ass.....i miss you brother.....but again the problem would be that i could either rent a car but tha wouldnt do any good cause i guarantee you i would get lost.....lol........and i know u prob wouldnt be able to pick me up on friday as youll be too busy trying to work or getting this setup going...........so you tell me if this is doable and if ti is i will ask my sister and go from there.......
love you brother...you tell me.......and i promise i'l behave myself to the best of my abilities........

So, if i wanted to scout around by myself or just sit some where away from the group and observe, I can't? Some one please clarify this please.
Thanks, Shane

Hey DB,
My husband and I are getting everything together for this outing. It will be the first for both of us. We will try and find some firewood to bring along with us. If there is anything specific that you need us to bring just let us know. Just make sure that there are not any foxes around the area and everything will be just fine.LOL!!
see you soon!

| I know i mentioned earlier that I won't be able to come. But my plans have changed. I'm riding with Shasta and Dan. I knew i could figure out something to go. I'm glad that Shasta and Dan are letting me hitch a ride with them. Thanks Shasta and Dan. Love you both!

Shane, to answer your earlier question: If you want to scout around on your own or sit away from the group and listen, you are perfectly welcome to do that. We certainly don't have a rigid itinerary.
But it would be nice if you would let someone know that you are going to be away from the group, so we won't disturb the area looking for you, in case someone thinks you've "gone missing".
And if we're recording, let us know roughly what direction you're gonna be, so we can get some good audios when the boogers grab you....
