Anyone interested in doing an overnight to the Tuskegee National Forrest? There was a sighting there in Jan 2007 and I would love to get in the field for the first time and look. If no one else is interested I may go with an old Boy Scout buddy of mine a little later in the year. Its on National Forrest land so there is no worry about getting permission to go where we please. I ahve been in this area a few time hunting when I lived in Auburn, but never had an encounter myself. The swamp the hunters had the encounter on should be easy to find on a topographical map.
If nothing else it would be nice to swap stories and freak out the newbie (me) over a campfire.
Anyway, here is the link to the sighting report:

anyone game?

I remember reading a report somewhere about vocals in the beehive road area of Auburn (within 7 or 8 miles as the crow flies) but I can't remember where, and can't find the link. It may have been on an old discussion board. I know there have been sightings in Lee County. The Lee county line is within a couple miles of this location. Primative camping is allowed anywhere within the park boundries (not during deer season).
Take a look at the location. Do a search for " NF-916 Notasulga, AL 36866 " on google maps, then click the satelite photo. If you zoom out just a little you can see the National forest corner, bordered by AL 186 to the south, US 29 to the East, a powerline right of way to the north, and I-85 to the west.
There is clearly a dried up lake or swamp approximately 1800 yards ESE from the northbound (on the southern side of the interstate) rest area, and a substantial creek visible.
Another thing I will say is this is an area that has a wild hog population. I would highly recommend some form of protection. I'm not afraid of BF, but I know how nasty a pack of hogs can be, especially with piglets on the ground.
