I stared at the bottle of Nightime PM Tylenol....I was gettin some sleep tonight by golly. And then I stared out the window at the full moon and put the bottle back in its place. Everyone was asleep and I figured it was probably too late anyway to take it. Every night it seems I've been waking up at sometime in the morning and staying awake for two to three hours.
One night I woke up and went outside. I sat on the porch for awhile and just prayed I had the opportunity to hear something that night. The season is changing and I knew the animals would be on the move and acting different. Bears getting ready to hibernate and getting fat. I stood up and the hair on my back stood up as I heard that old familiar howl...........it was long and low and went up an octave sharply at the end. That was no coyote and no wolf and it sounded very close. Somewhere up on Hoodoo. I stood up and walked down the porch steps and looked up at the night. The clouds hung low and moved slow and the moon shone right through those clouds lighting the whole driveway. I walked slowly to the end of the drive and heard a response back. After that I was wide awake and could not sleep.
I am always leary and careful....and try not to assume anything. I just feel safe here where I live..that does not mean that I am actually safe and that nothing can't happen. I noticed that on the other post and didnt have time to explain or respons. There is a certain comfort you feel when you have found your place....I didnt feel it in Texas and any other place until I got here. I formed a bond with a lot of people down there..and wish I could find a group of folks up here......but sometimes you cant replace that.
I have to respect the other people that live around me though. So I can't just go out and make calls anymore.....

Hey Cindy , I know about those sleepless nights ( mine have been coming on for about three yrs now and I think for me its just old age kicking in lol ) . I am sorry you cant do your calls any more , interacting with these guys can be such a cool thing ( in my opinion ) . You could leave them little gifts and that way you still have some sorts of interaction ...................... Carolann

Cindy, go ahead and do your calls. When your neighbors complain, tell them that there's no such thing as Sasquatch-it's just their imagination. lol

Look whose staying up at night.....donna what are you doing up at 430 in the morning? LOL......going to work?....busy.............
I found my hand held recorder....but now I need to go get a good microphone..........so if anybody has any tips so i can get a good recording....I will put my recorder at the end of the road...or across the road.....and turn it on.....but I am not sure how long it will record..........or I just might stay up what the heck and sit out there and manually change out the tapes.........so anybody got any helpful hints how to record for long periods of time....and remember I am technically challenged and hubby aint going to go let me buy too much...so if it costs too much forget it....i aint gonna record......so I guess i will have to do it the old fashioned way and use the hand held recorder....and a microphone .............probably when i go out and make some calls.

De boogers gonna git you girl. You make those calls and don't worry about the neighbors. They'll sleep right through them.
Radio Shack sells a good, inexpensive digital recorder (at least they did about four years ago). It's what we were using when we got the T-rex call in Alabama and got a LOT of good stuff on it down in Mississippi.
