I've been wondering about the teepees that people sometimes find in the woods, & what the purpose of them is.
There don't seem to be any in my area, at least the part that I see of it, so I decided to make one & see what (if anything) happened. Last night, I made a tiny one that looked like a little pyramid, with four approximately 30" sticks .
Just after daylight this morning, I went to see if anything was different about it, & sure enough, there appeared to be something under it. As I got closer, I was surprised to see a rabbit sitting under it. He had a buddy nearby that ran away as I got closer, but the one under the teepee just sat there looking at me. I walked up close enough that I could have picked it up & it never even blinked an eye. It was like it was in a trance of some kind.
I stood there looking at it & it never moved. Finally, I said "What are you doing under there?" When I spoke, it took off out of there like it had been shot out of a gun.
I hate to ask this, but....er....could it be some kind of trap for catching animals for food?

| Korie, I've never heard of that...certainly sounds possible. All I have heard of teepees being used for are shelters and markers. I look forward to other's responses on this.

I have wondered the same thing Korie. We find logs in square formations right behind our homes as well as other areas not to far away. There will always be teepee formations and bows and pointers in the same area as well. I know they try to mimic humans so I wonder if the teepees, bows and pointers are their way of mimicing the indians making teepees to live in and maybe the bow and pointers are the bow and arrows and could the squares be their representation of our homes?
