Well Bear said he would be very upset with me if when I got home I did not start a new thread about this weekend in north bama!! LOL First let me say I truely enjoyed meeting everyone who was there, well most everyone!...LOL This outing was mine and my wifes first ever. Despite the wonderfull weather friday it was a total great experience!! Well I'll do my best to tell ya'll at least what I experience this weekend. Friday...after a long morning of driving in the rain we got where everyone else was about 10:15,we met everyone and got our tent set up.We got on our way around seven or so and headed over the Mississippi line to a place called the Mounds,we got there around 8:30 so they could do the Camp fire shadows show at nine ,coonbo and bear made a few calls while Skunkape set up the FLIR camera.Soon as he was set up he caught not one but 3,yes 3 boggers,as bear calls them. Well of course for my wife and I this was very exciteing and WILD . The 3 sat there for a while and in a bit 2 walked away and left the 1 to watch us watching him.Now there were no vocals from the 3 but some could be heard off in the distance. As most may have heard on the show the 1 was there the whole time they were on the air. After which he still hung around. Now 1 or 2 time I thought I could see 2 more but I was not sure. Later we took a walk out in the field the Mounds were in.We looked around for tracks or any sign of the BF.After a few min we walk back .Now between us and the others at the truck there was a small patch of woods in the field,I would say about 60 yds long and maybe 30 yds wide. So we walked back to the truck and when we got there they told us there was another BF wacthing us from the patch of woods we just walked by. So first a couple folks walk back to the patch and I saw ,along with all the others , the image on the flir move from one side of the patch to the other. Then a few more folks walked up there to see if they could see anything in the patch moving. At that point I had to decide if I wanted to really go up there or not.The next thing I know I'm standing next to everyone and moving around to see the BF. We looked up and down the patch, now this was without going in the patch it self, so then one of the guys walked up alot closer and the BF began to hiss at us,but I could not hear him,so I moved closer, it was then the BF growled at us! Now I heard this very clearly and it did not sound happy at all. At this point Bear told us we needed to back off and leave it alone. We walked to the truck and it was still there and so were the other BF,who on the edge of the field about 100 to 150 yds from the patch of woods. We watch them for a while longer and I beleave Bear or coonbo said we should leave and let them alone. From there we went back to camp and got some sleep!! LOL

Sorry the first was so long ,I'll try to get to the point quicker this time! LOL LOL Sat we went back to the mounds to look for tracks or signs .Me and a few more had a look around the patch of woods . As for me I really couldn't see any signs or tracks ,but this was my FIRST,so bare with me.LOL I did get a whiff of a rather strange oder in the middle of the patch of woods . We look around a bit more and then headed back to camp. Later on we got ready for the nights action. After dark we were sitting down close to the river and waiting on some of the folks to get the boat in the water. Well we were talking and waiting and thats when I heard some very heavy foot steps in the trees behind us. I was useing my small Walkers game ear in one ear when I heard this. It seems to take a few steps and then just stop cold. I didn't hear it anymore that I'm aware of. So Bear and cooonbo dids some calls and I thought I heard a few calls back. After everyone got back off the river ,I was still sitting along by the river, but this was a fairly long and steep bank, from which you could not see the bottom unless you stand right on top of the ridge, Myself and Gena were talking about the things we had heard that night and friday night before when all of a sudden we both heard what sounded like a large object land behind us back a few feet away.So we got up and looked around and found a baseball size rock laying next to one of the tents. This was a might unnerveing! So after looking around for a bit I went back up to the other folks and told what had happen. Well I've talked enough for now,but I add more later.

You just talk on..LOL
You seem to be doing a great job of telling folks about what happened at the outing. I am sure everyone that didn't get to go to the outing is enjoying reading your posts about what happened out there. I know I am.
I also know that everyone is tired and will take a few days to catch up with things. I hope everyone makes it back home..safely.

Hi All---and I do mean ALL good folks in our great forum!!!!
If there is only one word for this past week-end, "AWESOME" would be it. A close second would be, "UNBELIEVABLE". And a close third would be, "INCREDIBLY MIND BLOWING". Never in my born days, (and I might add, I was the oldest one in camp), can I tell you on paper, or in person, of my feelings, teachings and experiences. Live and in person, about our week-end. Life changing and inspiring experiences: Remembering the song, "We've Only Just Begun". WOW
There really are only so many adjectives and visions to try to convey. But, I am still reeling and gathering my tired thoughts to put them in words. Yes, I took notes. Yes, I took pictures-----but, can in no way orchestrate the whole event on paper right now. Totally something you really have to experience and be a part of to believe.
Just a prelude of what I would like to tell all after getting rest and getting my act together, lol. TRULY A BIG EVENT. Sorry for all who missed, great folks, food, fun and facts. STAY TUNED.
LOVE,
goodgoing
P. S. I only want to add, this was truly one of my life's great experiences, and I am OLD, .Last edited on Mon Oct 27th, 2008 06:34 am by goodgoing

| This was my first outing and I really enjoyed myself. I made alot of new friends, thanks everybody for making me feel like part of the family. Although I've always believed, trip strengthened that belief, especially standing there listening to them answer the calls that Bear was doing. That was an experience I won't soon forget.

First of all, can I just say what a great group of people we had on the outing. Some folks could only stay a minute and others were there for the long haul, but all were jolly and ready to do some research. I could not have had a better group of people to learn from and to learn with then the ones who showed up to this outing. It was like being with family,....except without the "mom liked you best," stuff going on.
Now allow me to describe the setting, ...COLD and WET. It rained so hard Thursday night and Friday morning I had dreams of drowning. No one allowed the water to get us down. Everyone was in good spirits and prepared for the activities. A little rain wasn't gonna stop this group. It was cold most of the time, but extra clothes and blankets fixed that, not to mention all the walking, keeping up camp and laughing our rear ends off at Bear, Dan,Shata and Coonbo's tall tales helped. Saturday night was the coldest, with temps in the 30's at times. This did not deter our fearless leader, Bear. Our teeth chattered and our knees knocked but we stood in awe as his calls were answered from across a fog covered body of water, and pictures snapped as a possible BF stood in the treeline watching our group.
On Thursday, I arrived at camp. I was greeted by NO ONE! The rest of the group was running late and the only other person I saw at the camp group looked very normal,...which meant he could be a serial killer. It turned out that the killer in question was Highpoint, a great feller from Mississippi. (He cooks a mean cowboy stew) The rest of the group arrived and there was hugs and hand shakes all around. We spent Thursday evening getting the camp set up, getting to know each other and getting ready for the weekend activities. Shasta spent a good bit of the time defending herself from the stretched truths and down right lies Bear told on her when telling of previous outings. Kelly slipped around planning birthday surprises and a Big "we appreciate you" surprise for Bear. Camp fire tales were spun and we all got to meet Bo the Booger dog when he showed up with his owner and treat keeper, Coonbo. Bo displayed much command of maintaining security while at camp, as he alerted the presence of anyone walking up to camp, even if he had met them before. We were to find out later that this was all an act, as he was ready to get in the truck when all the Boogers started slipping up to where we were researching on Friday night. Lucky for us, Coonbo brought back up. His son and daughter dropped in to hang out with us.
Friday night is when everyone got a good taste of researching the elusive forest dweller (the primate, not the one on the forum. He and his wife visited camp on Saturday. Nice folks.) We all loaded up and formed a convoy to our destination. A wrong turn caused the convoy to have to turn around and find our way back to the road we missed. The folks who lived in the area thought it was a parade and came out of their homes to watch us turn around. People in the South are always up for a surprise parade on a dirt road. Once there we found ourselves on an almost one lane dirt road in the woods. There were fields on both side, which were surrounded by trees. Off in the distance there was a highway, but it did not have heavy traffic. The creepy factor was already high as we left the safety of the trucks and prepared to research. Bear and Shane got ready to broadcast the show. Swamp ape set the thermal up with some help from Donna C., and before long they had picked up several possible BF's in the tree line of the field. Things heated up fast. Coonbo had made some rather impressive calls. The hair on the back of my neck stood up just listening to him. ( I will secretly work on my calling now that I've heard it done right. SHHH, don't tell anyone one. We wouldn't want Coonbo's head to get swollen. lol.) In no time there were answers to Coonbo's calls and the woods were alive with whoops and hoots from every direction and distances. primatebait had it covered! He was recording from all over the field. It was hard to keep up with this fearless guy. He was one of the firsts to take off toward sounds to get it better recorded. He did not put himself in harms way, but he was definitely on the mark. He and Swamp Ape spent a good bit of time in the field getting reactions from the boogers. Donna manned the equipment for Swamp Ape while he was in the field. Shasta and Kedema spent a good bit of time in the field observing, recording and helping with equipment. Leonard and Dan scanned the area with the night vision. Leonard made a possible sighting in the wood line to the opposite side of the field were everyone observed BF's on the thermal. We also had growling from were Leonard was able to make out a shape with the night vision. Also, when he looked for the shape later, it was not there. I also witnessed the shape, as Leonard needed a back up set of eyes to witness it and Dan said his eyes were too tired. I can also say that I could not find the shape again after some time had passed. When I observed the shape it appeared to be the shape of a BF squated down in the tree line, looking to his right, were our vehicles were parked. The shape had a pointed head and I mostly saw from his midchest up. It remained very still the hole time I watched it, which was around five minutes. After the broad cast, (which I ended up on after Shane shoved the phone, unexpectedly into my face.) Bear lead a few of us on a walk of the field. There were hay rolls all over the field, and I just knew I would walk by and a BF would be standing there. There was a low fog covering the ground and lots of standing water. Spooky! On our way back to the main group, we passed an island of trees. Swamp Ape informed us that we had just walk past a possible BF, which was standing in the island of trees. primatebait and Dwells made a b-line to record sounds and make a possible sighting. They were quickly followed by a small group. It was reported that after the group flanked the front of the island of trees, there was hissing and growling heard. No one could get a visual and Bear called the posse off. Meanwhile, on the other side of the road, there was constant hooting and whooping. When we called it a night and prepared to leave, I was wound tight with excitement and a little afraid on running into something,...or several somethings. On top of this, myself, Dwells and his super wife Melissa, were in Dwells truck, which was the last in line and the furthest back into the thick, dark woods. We brave the wilds and made it back to the truck, only to smell a sickening odor. I thought, "no way. I'm imagining this." I asked Melissa if she smelt anything. She said she did and we jumped into the truck. Before you think we're chickens, I want you to know we took a quick but through look around through the UNTINTED windows of Dwells' truck. lol. Hey, we are researchers! Dwells smelt the same thing and called Coonbo over. (of course Dwells was in the truck with us and calling through the open window at the time). Coonbo smelt it and declared that we possibly had one laying under the truck or near the truck just before we walked back to it. COOL, and yet creepy. Once back at camp we had noises in the woods and some whoops and hoots from the forest around us. Most turned in for the night, but Shasta, myself, Lion (Daniel) and his brother Mathew stayed up listening to the forest and keeping the fire going until the sun came up. We were the all nighters. Some call it fear, we called it dedication to our research.
Saturday came and a few of us returned to the area of research to look for foot prints. Coonbo, his daughter Diane and her pal, Swamp Ape, Donna C., Dwells and his wife, Brad, Tennessee Cherokee and his son, Jacob, primatebait and I walked all over the field, road and some of the woods looking for evidence. primatebait was able to get some great pics of X formations, twisted and bowed trees, possible foot prints and even a Christmas tree. I made a bee line to the spot were Dwells truck was parked the night before, and sure enough, there was a foot print with clear toe marks. You could see a track going into the woods and coming out. The foot print was possibly of a younger BF. While tracing the tree line were we had heard a growl and saw a shape of a possible BF, I began smelling that sickening odor again. It was right in front of me. I looked back over my shoulder to see were everyone else was located. Ya know, in case I needed to run. No one was close, most were across the field on the opposite side. Great! I did see that primatebait was the closest, as he was checking out the island of trees. I waved at him to come to me. Dwells, Melissa and Brad had appeared from the road and was making their way toward me as well. primatebait said he smelt the same odor I did and Melissa confirmed that it was what we had smelled the night before. No evidence was found in the island of trees were the possible BF was, though there was a trench running through the middle were something could have hid.
We returned to camp. Several individuals took the boats out. This is when they captured thermal evidence of a possible BF climbing a tree. Those of us in camp, cheered on Alabama's football team, until Coonbo was ready to start making calls. When the calls began, Maureen and Leonard was dedicated enough to set Alabama football aside and fully concentrate on BF research. (Maureen and Leonard are a lively couple who helped keep everyone fed the whole outing, and for that we thank them very much.) In no time the camp and the surrounding area was full of snaps, rocks being tossed, whoops and hoots. primatebait, Dan and Tennessee Cherokee were able to get some great recordings. On the return of the Boat People, we left out to a couple of other locations. I was lucky enough to ride with Highpoint (the serial killer) and Georgia Tracker (a great man with tons of knowledge on BF). Of course, Highpoint's truck was way up there and I'm on 4' 10". GT and HP laughed their butts off helping me jump in and out of the truck. I needed a ladder and a parachute. On our first stop, Bear did some calls across body of water coated by a thick fog. He got a response, along with coyote yelps. We enjoyed watching the stars shoot across the clear sky. Keith was mistaken as a trash can by Kedema, which broke the tension of the moment. We then moved our frozen bodies over to the second location, which is were Bear got a great response to his call and a pic was taken by Keith of the possible BF in the tree line watching us. We froze our bottoms off and I'm sure the BF was wondering what the heck we were doing in his neck of the woods at that time of night, with those temps. Once we returned to camp we found that there had been further action in camp. Shasta had almost been hit by a rock. Earlier in the night Shasta, primatebait and I had been talking when she watched a good size rock be chunked toward us, falling between the tents. I had also had an incident were I had made a loud sound while yawning. Kedema has told me not to yawn so loud or I might attract BF's. No sooner than she said it, a rock was thrown at me and hit my tent. After that there was a few other smaller rocks that landed in the general area of my tent when we were all sitting around the campfire talking.
All and all I have to say that I loved being on this outing and will attend outings in the future. The people were great and the stories were informative. Everyone was helpful and willing to do what they could to help out around camp and in the field. Many people put in a lot of work on this outing. I would like to specially thank those who were responsible for the fabulous cooking. Bear, Swamp Ape, Maureen & Leonard, Donna C. & Melissa, Highpoint (best cowboy stew), Plowboy & Keith, primatebait, Shasta and Kedema and anyone else my tired mind has forgotten to name. I would also like to thank everyone for making my birthday a very special one. You all made me feel like part of the family. Thank you for the card, with the kind words, the tasty cake and the Pumpkin that I had a blast carving on Saturday. I wonder if BF liked the Jack o Lantern as much as I did?

I really enjoyed the posts from dwells, goodgoing and gena(except for the AL football game part-I was in Knoxville Sat. nite watching my Vols get trashed. lol). That was a way for those of us who could not make it to sort of be there and see things through their eyes. ( I think you call that living vicariously, or somethin' like that)
I plan on making the next one. Hope to see all of you there, and look forward to posts from others who attended.

Great work folks!!!! Experiences that will never be forgotten, and something to pass on to future generations.
And for the "first time outing" members, you are hooked big time! It won't be long before your family will have to get you out of the woods with a tranquilizer gun. LOL
Again, great job!

Well, Bear told us all to start a thread and add our own report, so here is mine.
I arrived at the camp around 2:00pm on Saturday afternoon. Upon arriving, there were several cars and only a few people. This being my first outing, my head was full of thoughts. I went to the campfire area where several people were seated, and I asked am I in the right place? The reply was "depends on where you need to be." I said is this the forum meeting? I got a big smile, and then an introduction then to Georgiatracker, Leonard, Goodgoing, and Sasquatchfound.
The others had all made a return trip to the "mounds" after the previous nights experience to look and document any further evidence.
After sitting around the fire for a while, and cutting and gathering wood for the fire, Leonard and Sasquatchfound were talking about a possible bedding area just down the hill from where camp was. So the three of us decided to make the journey, and see what was there.
Upon entering the woods, it was very apparent whose domain we were in. We saw many tree bows, and several breaks that were at my head level, or higher (I am 6ft tall btw) At the bottom of the hill, beside the water, we found a patch of sandy/clay ground. Leonard found a washed out footprint, that was probably made during the rainstorm from Thur. night. There were a couple of toe prints clearly visible. I photo-documented the print, along side Leonard's shoe for comparison. Moving up the hill, Sasquatchfound and I located the bedding area he had previously mentioned. It was in some thick brush and was about 6ft across. I have seen bedding nest of deer, and this just did not look to be the same design. I noticed that varioius twigs and branches around this bedding area were broken close to the ground. Leaving the bedding area, the three of us moved on up the hill back into the wooded area. We discovered several trees where the moss had been rubbed off, like where something were rubbing, or scratching their back against, or just resting on.
We moved on, and found what appeared to be a place where something had laid on the ground. To the southeast side of this impression, there were twigs placed on the ground in an "x". These twigs were freshly fallen twigs, and they had been placed in under another small stick that was a much older fallen stick.
Going across the ridge, we all three thought we heard something behind us, so Leonard dropped in behind a tree, and me and Sasquatchfound continued on. After about ten minutes, Leonard caught back up to us. (He saw something, but I am going to leave it to him to describe what he saw in his report) After the three of us had rejoined, we were discussing a couple of tree bows, and a dead crow I discovered, when at 4:20pm, we were hit with an owl call within 50yds of our location. This owl call was like there were three owls calling at the same time. Being daylight, I figured I would be able to see what was making the call, but there was nothing to be seen. We then returned to camp and much to our dismay, the guys/gals at camp never heard the owl. ****the camp was well close enough to the call location they should have easily heard them...
The guys that made the trip to the "mounds" then returned, and I was introduced to everyone else. After they caught thier breath, rested a little plans were being made to put a boat-floatilla and go past the camp, then free float back down, being veryquiet while taking FLIR images, calling, and just seeing what might turn up. About 30min. into the trip, the FLIR picked up a signature. After observing the signature for a while, we turned the spotlights on the area where the image was located. I observed two bright yellow/with a reddish tint eyes about half way up a tree. (this was very exciting). We continued on, and heard various sounds, and picked up on eyeshine.
When we made it back to camp, it was time to eat, so after a hot meal, we all loaded up to go to a couple of different locations to make calls. The first stop turned up a couple of return calls, but they were off in the distance. I at one point thought I heard a tree break. We then continued on a second location, where it was very foggy, and quite cold. When the call was made, after about 3 minutes a single long howl was returned. We started hearing noises from behind us. Moving in closer none of us could see what was there. After standing there for 5-7 minutes, we started to walk off when Keith took a picture of a possible Bigfoot. Tired, and weary in the early hours of the morning, we then returned to camp, and settled down for some shut-eye.
I had an absolute great time. I met many people, made some new friends. Everyone there was super nice. I finally got to meet my neighbor Bear, and Pat and too many other names to list. For me, this trip was a great success, and I can not wait until the next time, when maybe I can stay more than just a single night. It was cold, and foggy at times, but the time spent around the campfire was great with many tales, and stories told, with lots of laughs and lots of fun...... H.F.

| I was reading Gena's post and just wanted to comment on the smell we thought was a BF, Dwells and I had went up the road from everybody else when we returned to the mounds and found a place where wild pigs had wallowed and the smell was coming from there and we mentioned it to Coonbo, he said it was probably where moonshiners had dumped their sourmash and the pigs were wallowing in it.

Haha..leave it to those moonshiners. I just wanted to thank everyone for sharing this with the rest of us, who didn't get to go. I also wanted to thank Shane and Bear and Becky and Evenlyn (and everyone else) for the great couple of shows on Campfire Shadows..probably the greatest bigfoot related shows to touch blogtalkradio. I have the utmost respect for the way ya'll handled the research out there, and as a total noobie I was taking notes. You folks are true professionals, and I'm grateful that you willingly share your stuff with us. I aslo wanted to state for the record that your sincerity is evident, which is never short of refreshing for a green guy like me who has to wade through all the claims from hacks out there. Thanks again and squatch on!

As you can see this was a great weekend for all. I am proud to say I was apart of it all ! I truly enjoyed meeting all who were there and look forward to seeing them again and all of the ones who could not make it this time. By the way Gena,my windows are tinted but not very dark. LOL As for the smell we smelled, the next day BBray 34 and I did find a spot where wild hogs had been that night(friday) wallowing around and what looked like where they may have laid down on in the night. Now where they there when when we smell what we did or not I have now way of knowing, but I'm fairly sure they were there sometime that night because there was fresh tracks(not rained in) and the mud was just starting to crust over and dry out. So the smell may have been the hogs, but the where 2 different smells I now beleave after some time to think on it a little more! All in all without seeing what was really in the road that night there's no way to be sure.

My apologies to dwells, I did not realize there was light tint on your truck windows. LOL. Also, I believe I used the name Highpoint instead of Highpocket. I'm sorry about that, Don, but you're lucky I didn't mess up and call ya a Hotpocket. I am not good with names, lol.
Let me know if my sleep deprived brain mixed up anything else while recounting our great adventures. I enjoyed the outing and I'm sure I've made some real stand-up friends.

I don't know if I could add any more to what has already been said about the outting. This has been more fun than I've had in a long time. The excitement, anticipation and not knowing what will happen next in the middle of the night with sounds that will curl your toenails up, will make your heart want to explode! It will certainly "clean your veins" out if nothing else. (made me move my tent closer to camp-in the rain! ) The night when we were at the mounds, and that donkey braying and going crazy after the scream is forever burnt in my brain! I will remember it till the day I die.
I can' say enough about the people. This forum is real. To put names with faces and share such an enjoyable outing has been great. Their was never a dull moment, no bitching, no complaining, everyone pitching in, sharing and helping each other made it even better. The campfire stories was a bonus! It felt like family. Special thanks to Bear and Pat for pulling this together! I appreciate the opporitunity to be a part of it! I hope everybody made it home safe and look forward to seeing you again.
your friend- HP
Don
