Southwest Oklahoma Field Investigation Report

DATE REPORT SUBMITTED: November 12, 2009

DATE OF FINDING:
July, 2009

STATE: Oklahoma

LOCATION:
Southwestern Portion

GENERAL TERRAIN DESCRIPTION: This area has rolling hills with a river basin bordering on the south side surrounded on the east and west sides by open pasture land. On the north side there is a public road, running east and west, also bordered with wide open pasturage. This is a rising type plateau, gradually elevating in height from the river's flood basin, with undulating ridges running toward the north and south. The forest is mostly hardwood, interspersed with cedar and is very thick.

DETAILS OF THE INVESTIGATION:

On Thursday, July 2, 2009, Bear and Shasta started following up on a number of Bigfoot sighting reports received by their good friend Kurt, from Amarillo, Texas. Kurt is otherwise known as Kurdokis on the Alabama Bigfoot Forum.

NOTE: The following is a combination of information given to me by the researchers involved in this investigation. I contacted both Shasta and Bear by phone and email and the information I received from them is as follows:

Kurt had put out contact information for the SW Oklahoma area in the local newspaper when he was interviewed by a news reporter located in that area. Replies were starting to come in, on an average of about 3 to 4 sightings/encounters a week, so we decided to investigate some of areas from which information had been received.

A local part-time Game Warden had called in and reported a few incidents that pertained to this one certain area, so we concentrated on that area.

The rural area is also close to a restaurant that caters to the local population with some of the finest cuisine in that part of the state.

Understanding that a Bigfoot will take advantage of any opportunity for a free meal, and because our friend CJ had been telling us of incidents that had occurred in this general area, we decided to check out the food disposal dumpsters located at the businesses in this area. This particular business has its trash dumpsters located in the back. When we arrived at the site of the dumpsters, we saw that a barbed-wire fence separated the business property from a large wooded area. We didn't get out of our vehicle at this time but drove slowly past the dumpster area. As we drove past the garbage containers, we noted that one dumpster was about 3 foot taller than the others.

While driving past we noticed that the barbed-wire fence behind the dumpsters was fairly new and very tautly strung. Bear noticed that the top part of the fence had been pushed down to within a few inches of the second strand behind the largest dumpster.

We also noticed a well used and very visible trail that led from the dumpsters, across the fence, and into the adjoining wooded area. We figured the creatures had crossed here and used the largest dumpster for cover. Noting this, we decided it best to have the owners permission before actively investigating farther.

The next day Bear, Randy (a good friend and also a Bigfoot researcher) and his wife Christine went to the restaurant to eat supper. We had contacted the owner and had been given permission to look around the area of the dumpsters. Bear wanted to show Randy the pulled down fence wire that he and I (Shasta) had found the day before.

After arriving, they immediately walked to the dumpster area. While Bear and Randy were checking the fence for any physical evidence, Christine had turned around and was looking at the dumpster and called Bear and Randy's attention to it. It was covered with large greasy hand prints.

When Bear returned to Shasta and Dan's home, where he was visiting, he said, "We need to go back and get some photos". (See Photos Above) We (Bear, Dan & Shasta) then started thinking and working on ways we might use to lift the prints. We (Bear & Shasta) went back a few days later with our friend CJ.

Dan had read online that cocoa could be used to lift fingerprints so I (Shasta) took cocoa and a fine-haired makeup brush and tried to lift one of the prints. We were unable to lift the prints due to the high temperatures we had been experiencing in Oklahoma at the time. The prints appeared to be "baked on" the dumpster with no residue oils left for the cocoa to adhere to. I (Shasta) gently applied cocoa to one print and tried to lift it with tape. When I pulled the tape off, the print was destroyed and there was no print on the tape. I (Shasta) took photographs and we left for home.

DETAILS REGARDING THE EVIDENCE:

I (Shasta) was not satisfied with the quality of the photographs taken, so Dan bought men a new camera with a micro zoom feature.

With the new camera, Bear, CJ and I returned to the area of the dumpsters to try and obtain some better photos of the hand prints. I was then able to take some good close-ups of the prints. After I had taken the photographs, CJ started walking along the fence looking for tracks and I followed. About 40 feet away from the larger dumpster (near one end of the line of dumpsters), CJ spotted hair on the fence. It was on the second strand of wire close to one of the fence post. There was a small electrical equipment box near that point along the fence and it was about 2 feet from the fence. We thought the hair might have been snagged on the fence when the creature walked through that confined space. I took pictures of the hair on the fence, and then collected it from the fence wire using gloves and tweezers and placed it in a bag. The fence had 5 strands of barbed wire. The hair was on a barb of the second strand of wire from the top, which was about 4 1/2 feet above the ground.

HISTORICAL NOTES: This area has a long history of sightings of large hairy human-like creatures.

INVESTIGATOR’S NOTES AND COMMENTS:
After the finding of the hair, several forum members wanted the hair examined and identified. One member, Tal Branco, recommended a commercial forensic lab that he had previously used to identify purported Sasquatch hair. Another member, Bobbie Short, suggested that we send a sample to Dr. Henner Fahrenbach who has evaluated other purported Sasquatch hair. A sample of the hair was sent to each of the suggested examiners in September of 2009.
